In Ontario, there are 73 community health centres funded by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, each with a mandate to provide services to a population facing accessibility barriers such as poverty, racism, sexism, ethnicity or language.

 

In our area (from Fauquier to Opasatika) and based on needs and health studies, the first priority group identified was the Francophone population without a family physician. Our second priorirty.  We have now moved on to our other priority groups, which include the Francophone population facing linguistic barriers and the members of the community without a family physician which includes Anglophones.
